What to bring on your Altered Book weekend.
The basic equipment
- Cutting board
- Craft mat (for the messy work)
- Scissors
- Scalpel ( Good Quality Plus replacement blades)
- Pointy tool!
- Metal Ruler
- Greaseproof paper
- Blotting paper / kitchen roll
- Old credit card
- Make-up sponges
- Wet wipes
- Paint brushes
- A selection of acrylic paints.
- Fine sandpaper
- Distressing tool (only if you have one)
- Glue (PVA, silicon,and double sided tape)
- Foam pads and glue dots
- Apron and protective gloves( if you don’t like to get ink on your hands)
From your Stash
- A selection of plain card stock and patterned paper (Relevant to your chosen themes)
- Journaling Pens
- A selection of embellishments (Ribbon and fibers, crystals, Flowers, buttons etc )
- Embossing powder
- Ink pads
- Stamps relating to your chosen themes
- Eyelets and Brads
- Ephemera relating to your chosen themes
- Old book pages / magazines or collage sheets
- Quotes and or verses to use as Journaling.
You will be working with a shadow box and incorporating secret drawers into your books.
With this in mind Please bring some relevant “Found Objects” to create a 3d piece within your books.
The book dimensions are on average 12cm x 20cm. A selection of photos/ images will be required for each of your chosen themes. They will need to fit easily on to pages of this size . ( Large photos should be Portrait to fit the book dimensions).
Please note that you will be given a pack of materials to work with in conjunction with your Altered book. You will not however be given supplies in a kit form . My aim is to encourage you to develop your own style.
There will be a shop full of supplies for you to enjoy over the course of the weekend. However If you have Stash coming out of your ears so to speak please ” Bring it and use it !”
